AirNerd.org - fly more and fly fun...

The freedom of flying Experimental Aircraft

Do you want to fly more? Do you find it too expensive flying an elderly Piper or Cessna? Maybe Light Sport or Experimental aircraft is for you...

The AirNerd Hangar is the first step towards the vision of having a wider knowledge to Experimental aircraft in Denmark and in general.

But why?

The owner of AirNerd, Alf Doej started flying in 1992 with the vision to become an airline pilot. However – that was bad timing as jobs were not available at all. Since then, he has been flying like many other pilots – in expensive certified aircraft more than 50 years old. Yes, old Pipers and Cessnas from the 60-70’ies with fuel consuming engines even older.

Within the last decade many new types of Experimental or Light sport aircraft have been released to markets. New Experimental aircrafts are high quality aircraft where you (quick build) more than 51% and register it in that category. At a fraction of the price of a certified aircraft you can have a high speed and agile aircraft at the same time much cheaper to operate.

The AirNerd Hangar has room for aircrafts where you want to do you own service, have tools and in general have a good environment and community with other owners.

Later we will seek partnerships with vendors that are delivering great equipment to the Experimental category and potentially be a local representative.

NEWS:

December 2024: Finally our Piper Colt, PA-22 (OY-AFD) has been converted from Annex 1 aircraft to Experimental. The challange for an old short-wing is that we have only 3 certified mechanics being able to perform annual service in Denmark. And they are all above 70 years old. Having AFD as Experimental will allow our group to do own service, do upgrades and in general fly cheaper with a cozy old aircraft. We also got a newly renovated O-235 with 125hp that will go on AFD. That will make it perform a lot better for “island jumping”.

March 2025: AirNerd. org has purchased a brand-new T-51 Mustang kit. It is a 75% scale of a P-51 Mustang. It will be with a V8 Chevrolet LS3 engine – delivering some 427 horsepower on a CS prop. More to come – from the AirNerd Garage where it will be built..
